India is a country of 29 states and 7 union territories. From Jammu and Kashmir to Kerala every state has a different culture, different languages, and different expertise in various fields. There are misconceptions occurs in India for every other culture be it for Punjabi, be it for Haryanvi, Be it for Bengali, Be it for South Indian and Be it for Gujaratis. Hence we use to face these misconceptions at all times by others. What common misconception Gujaratis face from others let’s look below.
- Everyone is not Daya Bhabhi to do the garba all time.
“Garba” is leaving in their heart and yes they do love to garba on some occasions and in Navratri, but that doesn’t mean that they are always ever ready to do the garba all time. They know another dance form too, however, in some family function, they do the garba, like others do the bhangra, local folk dance in their traditional function.
- Gujarat is a vegetarian state
Due to an influence of Jainism and Swami Narayan cast people are more vocal against non-vegetarian, However that doesn’t mean that every Gujarati and Gujarat is vegetarian. As per the recent survey on food habits of various different state Gujarat behind with 60% vegetarian than Rajasthan where 71% population is vegetarian, Haryana where 68% population is vegetarian, Punjab where 65 to 68% population is vegetarian.
- Look beyond Dhokla and Fafda
Now this one every Gujarati tired of hearing like South Indian hearing for Idli dosa, Bengali hearing for Rasgulla. In Gujarat, there are also a lot of other dishes which one can enjoy like undhiyu, muthia, handvo, Lilva Kachori, Sev tomato curry, khichu, Mohanthal and non-veg dishes like bharuchi akuri, dhansak, Aleti paleti, Murgi Na farcha etc.
- Not all pronounce “Hall” as “Hole, and “Coca-cola” as “Cock”
Yeah you will also find terrible English in every part of India, as English is not their first language. However, you will find grammar Nazi from every part of Gujarat.
- Gujaratis are kanjoos
This allegation will be a little bit true, as they love to spend their hard earn money in the proper place and wisely. They spend more on trips rather than brand.
- US dream
Not everyone hears mad for the US. Gujaratis settled across the world everywhere, every city in India, but wherever they live always connected with the homeland and their native place.
- Gujaratis do not respect others privacy
